In a not-so-surprising turn of events, a lawyer for former President Donald Trump has accused the current government and the media of keeping a “two-tiered justice system.” During an interview with ABC, attorney Jim Trusty went head-to-head with host George Stephanopoulos and the current Justice Department. He said that they were very biased in how they handled investigations involving the current president, Joe Biden, compared to how they handled investigations involving Trump. The conversation got heated when Trusty said that no one is above the law, not even the president, and that the problems are not funny.

Trusty said, “This is a bad time in our history; our country is turning a corner.” He also said, “It’s a Rubicon we shouldn’t cross.” Trump and Biden are held to two different standards, and Trusty brought this point home by saying that 1,850 boxes at the University of Delaware have never been fully looked at. Stephanopoulos said that the claims were “ridiculous,” but Trusty kept going, saying that the whole country is aware of the problems and wants justice.

When we compare how Trump is treated to how Biden is treated, it’s clear that our system is broken. Shouldn’t the president be charged if he or she did the same crime as someone else? Where are the checks and balances? The news has been biased, and the present government hasn’t paid attention to these problems. On Thursday afternoon, Trump was charged, but Biden’s problems were swept under the rug. We can’t have two different rules for the same thing. It’s time to fix this unfair system. It’s a sad time in our country’s past to see it go in a direction that goes against the ideas of justice and fairness.
