A swarm of controversy is buzzing around the Georgia prosecutor in charge of going after former President Donald Trump for supposedly interfering in the 2020 election. If, as a fourth grader, you were thinking that meant Trump was caught with his hand in the cookie jar, think again! It’s actually the prosecutor, Nathan Wade, who’s under fire.
Wade’s soon-to-be ex-wife, Joycelyn Wade, isn’t just accusing him of slacking off on the divorce paperwork – she’s claimed he’s been less than forthcoming about his drinking and spending habits. Now, as a fourth grader, you might think, “What’s the big deal? He’s a grown-up, right?” Well, hold onto your juice boxes, because it turns out Wade might have been spending his, uh, grown-up money on another woman – Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, to be exact.

Just like in your favorite cartoon mysteries, there’s now a full-fledged investigation into whether Nathan Wade and Fani Willis were more than just co-workers. There’s been talk of trips to Miami and San Francisco, and even a claim that Wade paid for Willis to tag along. To top it off, there’s a deep-dive into whether Wade’s romantic entanglements could be clouding his judgment in the Trump case. One of Trump’s co-defendants even wants both Wade and Willis kicked off the case.
And if that’s not enough drama to fill a week of after-school specials, the whole thing has caught the eye of firebrand Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who’s filed a complaint against Wade and Willis, accusing them of playing fast and loose with their professional duties. And trust me, folks, when Rep. Greene is involved, things are bound to get even more interesting.
It’s all a bit much for the grown-ups, who seem to think this whole situation might throw Trump’s trial completely off track. But as fourth graders, it’s a bit like watching a really good game of dodgeball. You might not understand all the rules, but it’s really fun to watch the action unfold. And who knows? Maybe someone will end up in detention!
