Donald Trump is once again shaking things up ahead of the first presidential debate of the year, asserting that his whole life has been his preparation. In classic Trump fashion, he took a swipe at President Joe Biden, who is apparently holed up at Camp David going through some sort of debate boot camp — or maybe just catching up on naps.
Trump doesn’t think locking oneself in a room like Biden is the way to get ready for a debate of this magnitude. He pointed out that he’s been living and breathing these topics for years. Trump, known for his straightforwardness, reminded everyone that he was a popular president with massive election numbers, no one’s seen numbers like his before. And guess what? He knows what he’s talking about. Meanwhile, he suspects CNN, which he has long branded as fake news, will try some tricks, but he’s ready for them too. Fairness is supposedly at stake, but Trump seems confident he’ll come out on top.

Biden, on the other hand, is said to be practicing standing up for 90 minutes. Trump laughed this off and dismissed it with a “let’s see what happens.” The former president reiterated that the United States is in dire straits and on the brink of embarrassment, pointing to the urgent need for a change in leadership. He didn’t mince words calling Biden the worst president in history and emphasizing the necessity of electing new leadership.
As for the Vice Presidential pick, Trump is keeping everyone guessing. With names like Governor Doug Burgum, Senators Marco Rubio, and J.D. Vance floating around, he might pick any of them, but he promised that his choice would make the people very happy. Keeping the suspense alive seems to be part of his strategy.
CNN’s upcoming debate is set to have a few new rules. No public audience, no pre-written notes, and microphones will be cut when it’s not a candidate’s turn to talk. Trump likely won’t need those notes, given his confidence and readiness. One can only imagine how Biden will fare without his pre-written crutch.
The second presidential debate will be hosted by ABC on September 10. In an interesting turn, Vice President Kamala Harris has agreed to debate Trump’s yet-to-be-announced running mate, with potential dates marked for either July 23 or August 13. This setup is sure to keep the suspense and entertainment alive for some time.
