Former President Donald Trump recently sat down for an interview with Kristen Welker on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” and boy, did he have a lot to say. In typical Trump fashion, he didn’t hold back when it came to sharing his thoughts on a wide range of issues. And let’s just say, he didn’t mince words.
First, Trump took a shot at Florida Governor Ron DeSantis over his stance on abortion. According to Trump, DeSantis made a “terrible mistake” by signing a five-week and six-week abortion ban. Trump believes that Democrats shouldn’t be allowed to terminate a baby after a certain point in the pregnancy, and he wants to find a middle ground on the issue.
Next, the conversation turned to the 2020 presidential election, and Trump didn’t hold back in expressing his belief that the election was rigged. He pointed to various pieces of “proof” to support his claim, including what he refers to as the “Twitter Files” and allegations of ballot stuffing. Trump wants someone in charge who is strong, respected, tough, and fair when it comes to investigating the claims of election fraud.

Of course, the interview wouldn’t be complete without Trump addressing the Jan. 6 incident at the U.S. Capitol. Trump reiterated that he had very little to do with the violence and claimed that he told his supporters to protest peacefully and patriotically. He also took a swipe at former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for allegedly refusing to provide National Guard troops to keep the peace that day.
Finally, the interview wrapped up with Welker asking Trump about his belief in democracy. Trump admitted that while he still believes in the idea of democracy, he doesn’t believe that we have much of a democracy right now. He criticized the media for being dishonest and fighting him on simple questions, and he emphasized the need for a media that is free and fair.
Overall, it was a classic Trump interview, filled with controversial statements and bold opinions. Whether you agree with him or not, you can’t deny that he knows how to make headlines and stir up a conversation.
