In the latest round of polling, it seems like former President Donald Trump is still the Republican Party’s best hope for 2024. According to RealClearPolitics, Trump has a slight lead over Joe Biden, with a margin of 0.6. But that’s not all, folks! A new poll from Morning Consult shows Trump pulling ahead of Biden for the first time since December. With a 3-point lead outside the margin of error, Trump is truly dominating the GOP primary.
This news has the Trump campaign celebrating, as they highlight the poll results in a press release and on TruthSocial. And they’re not the only ones tooting their own horn. Another national poll, this time from Economist/YouGov, also shows Trump ahead of Biden by 4 points. It seems like the tide may be turning in Trump’s favor.
When we break down the demographics, it’s clear that Trump has strong support from Republicans, with 82% backing him in a matchup against Biden. He’s also holding onto 93% of the voters who supported him in 2020. On the other hand, Biden has the support of 78% of Democrats and 83% of his 2020 voters. Talk about loyalty!
But it’s not just about party support. Trump is even leading among Independents, with a whopping 38% compared to Biden’s paltry 28%. Independence is a valuable trait, my friends, and Trump knows how to appeal to those swing voters. Let’s not forget that he won in 2016 with the help of Independents, and Biden managed to do the same in 2020.
While some may argue that these polls are still just a snapshot in time, it’s hard to ignore the momentum building behind Trump. Even in critical swing states like Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, Trump is giving Biden a run for his money. A Quinnipiac poll shows them virtually tied in Pennsylvania, while Marquette University Law School has Biden leading in Wisconsin, albeit by narrow margins. The road to victory is looking promising for Trump.
Now, let’s address the elephant in the room. Yes, Biden’s approval ratings may be on the rise, but let’s not forget that the country is still on the wrong track. And as we know, the American people have a short memory. These polls can certainly change, and they often do. So, while Biden may think he’s got this in the bag, it’s far from over. Time will tell who the American people truly believe can lead this great nation. And mark my words, it won’t be Sleepy Joe.
