In the latest political rumble, former President Donald Trump is strutting his stuff as the top dog in the 2024 GOP presidential primary, with President Joe Biden trailing behind like a lost little pup. And guess what? The members of Congress are wagging their tails in excitement, hoping Trump snags the presidential bone once again for their own benefit.
With a pack of sitting GOP members of Congress endorsing Trump, there are three Republican lawmakers who would be licking their chops if Trump makes a comeback to the White House.
First up is Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. This fella has been barking up Trump’s tree from day one, yapping his support for the former president and sinking his teeth into investigations of the Biden family. If Trump takes the helm, Jordan would be his loyal enforcer, leading the charge on the former president’s agenda like a fierce guard dog.
Then there’s Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), Trump’s handpicked House Republican Conference chairwoman. After ousting Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) from the position, Trump patted Stefanik on the head and called her a “tough and smart communicator.” Now, Stefanik is returning the favor by barking her endorsement for Trump’s 2024 bid. If Trump fetches the presidency, Stefanik’s stock would rise even higher, and she might even fetch a spot on his shortlist for vice president.
Last but not least, we have Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), Trump’s chosen pup for the Ohio Senate race. Since taking office, Vance has been one of Trump’s top allies in the upper chamber, trotting alongside the former president and barking in his favor. If Trump snags a second term, Vance would be one of the big dogs pushing the former president’s agenda to new heights, and he may even fetch himself a position in a possible Trump administration.
With Trump leading the pack in the GOP primary polls and wagging his tail with a lead over Biden in the national polls, the former president is looking more fetching than ever for these Republican lawmakers. So, get your pupcorn ready for the 2024 political dog show, folks! It’s going to be a howling good time!
