Trump Torpedoes Iowa Gov Endorsement Amid Poll Lead – Gloves Off!

Former President and possible future President Donald Trump made waves on Tuesday night when he posted a fiery video taking aim at Republican Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds for daring to endorse Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for president. The Donald didn’t hold back, even though he’s enjoying a comfortable lead in the Republican primary, including in Iowa, where he’s ahead by a whopping 29.7 points. With such a huge lead, one might wonder why he’d bother going after his distant second-place rival, but that’s just The Donald for you.

In the video shared from the campaign’s official Twitter account, Team Trump X, Trump didn’t mince words. He claimed that Reynolds went from being a popular governor to the most unpopular in the whole country, and he’s got the Morning Consult poll to back him up on that. He didn’t provide the exact details of the poll, but who needs specifics when you’re The Donald?

But he didn’t stop there. Trump took a swipe at DeSantis, calling him “DeSanctimonious” and mocking Reynolds’ endorsement of someone who’s a whopping 50 points behind him in the polls. Ouch. He even suggested that Reynolds was promised something in exchange for endorsing such a long shot. And of course, The Donald had to throw another primary rival, Nikki Haley, into the mix, claiming that she and DeSantis “did absolutely nothing” while he, of course, saved the day for Iowa and other farming areas.

The response to Trump’s video was, shall we say, mixed. Many took issue with both his message and his overall demeanor, while others pointed out that Reynolds actually won reelection by a whopping 20 points, making her one of the most popular governors in the country by that measure. But who needs pesky facts when you’re The Donald?

And let’s not forget about the poll numbers. According to Morning Consult, Reynolds has a 47 percent disapproval rating, but she still enjoys a 49 percent approval rating. As for DeSantis, he’s got a 45 percent disapproval rating, with a 51 percent approval rating. But hey, who needs approval ratings when you’re The Donald?

In addition to Reynolds endorsing DeSantis, The Family Leader’s Bob Vander Plaats also threw his support behind the Florida governor, prompting yet another slam from Trump. It seems both camps are really ramping up the attacks as the Iowa Republican Caucus draws near. It’s less than two months away, and things are heating up as Trump, DeSantis, and Haley duke it out for that coveted Republican nomination. Let the games begin!
