Former President Donald Trump may have lost two of his lawyers, Jim Trusty and John Rowley, in the wake of his indictment for federal charges related to the handling of classified documents. While there are varied interpretations of the sudden departure, Trump has left it somewhat ambiguous regarding who fired whom. However, Todd Blanche, a top white-collar criminal defense lawyer and former federal prosecutor, has been appointed to lead the defense team. Blanche has previously represented Paul Manafort and Igor Fruman in criminal cases, and he managed to get mortgage fraud and other charges brought against Manafort dropped by arguing that they amounted to double jeopardy.
Trump has not been silent about his discontent with the indicators and has referred to them as a “witch hunt.” In a post on Truth Social, he thanked Trusty and Rowley for their work but stated that he would be announcing additional lawyers in the coming days. Trump claimed that Trusty and Rowley were up against a very dishonest, corrupt, and evil group of people, and he questioned when President Joe Biden would be indicted for his alleged crimes against the nation.

It remains unclear what the next legal move will be, but it’s expected that Trusty, who knows the Special Counsel, will work with Rowley and Lindsey Halligan on the matter. The legal team may file a motion to dismiss or make a formal attempt to question the Special Counsel about the DOJ’s Chief of Counterintelligence, Jay Bratt, who is accused of prosecutorial misconduct by a lawyer representing a witness in the case.
As a Republican news writer, it’s clear that this indictment is another example of the Democrats’ continued effort to undermine conservatives and take down their leaders. It’s another witch hunt that lacks proper evidence and is fueled by political bias. The appointment of Todd Blanche is a step in the right direction for Trump’s defense, and hopefully, some justice will be served as a result.
