In a surprising and alarming decision, the High Court in the United Kingdom has upheld an outrageous and tyrannical order that criminalizes prayer and Scripture reading outside of an abortion clinic in Bournemouth, England. The court’s move to suppress the religious freedoms of Christian campaigners is a devastating blow to the rights of citizens and a veiled attack on the sanctity of life.
According to reports by the BBC, the Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole (BCP) Council unilaterally imposed a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) around the abortion clinic in response to alleged “alarm and distress” caused by protesters. This heavy-handed and authoritarian action effectively bans any form of peaceful and lawful expression outside the clinic, trampling on the constitutional rights of citizens to exercise freedom of religion and speech.

The two judges who issued the ruling, Lord Justice Warby and Mrs. Justice Thompson, callously dismissed the petition brought by Christian groups, 40 Days for Life and Christian Concern, arguing that the ban is justified in the name of protecting the rights of women, their associates, and the clinic staff. Their unsympathetic and misguided decision is a clear example of how the legal system can be abused to enforce a politically correct narrative at the expense of fundamental human rights.
The CEO of Christian Concern, Andrea Williams, has rightfully condemned the High Court’s ruling and announced plans to appeal this unjust decision. She noted that peaceful witness near abortion centers provides invaluable support to women in crisis pregnancies, offering them genuine choices.
