President Joe Biden’s recent visit to a brewery in Wisconsin was a reminder of why he doesn’t drink alcohol. As a self-proclaimed teetotaler, Biden has always cited the presence of alcoholism in his family as the reason for his abstinence. It’s a decision that seems even wiser now considering his own progeny’s struggles with addiction. The New York Times reported that Biden believes addiction has a genetic component, and his own family’s experiences certainly support that theory.
While some may have thought that the president’s incoherent performance at the brewery was a result of the beer he was surrounded by, it’s clear that it was just Biden being Biden. The White House transcript of his remarks reveals a string of confusing statements and gaffes that are hard to make sense of. It’s almost as if the transcriber was playing a game of “Mad Libs” with Biden’s words, trying to fill in the blanks and create something coherent.

One of the highlights of Biden’s speech was his announcement of over a billion dollars in federal funding for clean water and the removal of poisonous lead pipes in Wisconsin. While this may sound like a noble endeavor, it’s worth questioning whether the federal government should be involved in such a localized issue. After all, shouldn’t the free market be allowed to handle it?
But perhaps the most entertaining part of Biden’s speech was when he went off on a tangent about ending cancer. While it’s commendable to have ambitious goals, it’s hard to take Biden seriously when he claims to have ended cancer as we know it. The White House transcript attempted to clean up his statement by changing it to “We can end cancer as we know it,” but let’s be honest, it’s still a stretch.
In the end, Biden’s brewery visit was just another reminder of his struggles with coherence and clarity. Whether it’s the beer or his cognitive decline, it’s clear that something is not quite right. And if America wants to avoid four more years of this, we need to pay close attention. Our enemies certainly are.
