In a tale that’s sure to bait your attention, a mischievous 17-year-old from Utah has been reeled in by the authorities for allegedly taping fish to ATM machines. Can you believe it? We’re not kidding, folks! This fishy fiasco unfolded in Orem and Provo, two cities known for their clean streets and law-abiding citizens.
Reports suggest that this cunning teenager, whose identity remains under wraps, took their antics to social media by proudly sharing pictures and videos of their underwater escapades on Instagram. That’s right, ladies and gentlemen, they plastered numerous fish onto ATMs using duct tape. Talk about using your noggin, huh? But wait, it doesn’t stop there! Some posts even feature cigarettes stuffed into the fish’s mouth. Now, that’s what you call a real catch.

Now, you might be thinking, “What’s the big deal? It’s just a harmless prank!” Well, hold your horses, folks! It turns out that this “innocent” act of taping fish had some serious consequences. Cleaning up the mess left behind cost the good people of Orem and Provo a pretty penny. And who do you think footed the bill? That’s right, hardworking taxpayers like you and me. It’s a real shame that we have to waste our money on cleaning up after immature shenanigans like this.
But the cherry on top of this fishy sundae is the audacity of our young prankster. The Instagram account boasting an impressive 55,000 followers, which, by the way, is an outrageously large number for someone committing these so-called “pranks.” Their bio even had the nerve to declare, “No fish were harmed in the process.” Come on now, do they really expect us to believe that taping fish to inanimate objects is completely harmless? Give us a break!
To make matters worse, it seems this troublemaker wanted their antics to go global. With a video showcasing a fish taped to a Japanese ATM machine, they shamelessly proclaimed, “We’re going international.” Well, congratulations, teenager! You may have made it onto the world stage, but only as the laughingstock of responsible citizens everywhere.
Now, the report states that there were about 13 or 14 incidents reported, but only two of them were deemed serious enough to press charges. You might wonder why they didn’t take the rest of the cases seriously. Perhaps the police underestimated the magnitude of this juvenile’s tomfoolery. Or maybe they were overwhelmed with other, more pressing matters. Either way, it’s disheartening to see some folks shrug off such blatant disrespect for public property.
At the end of the day, we should expect better from our young generation. We need to instill values of respect and responsibility, not encourage them to engage in foolish pranks that end up wasting taxpayer money. It’s high time we hold these troublemakers accountable and teach them that actions have consequences. Let this be a lesson to all aspiring fish-tapers out there: play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
