Vice President Kamala Harris found herself at the center of online mockery after videos surfaced of her attempting some “granny moves” during a celebration of the 50th anniversary of hip-hop at the White House. In the clips, Harris can be seen awkwardly shuffling around at the outdoor event, garnering reactions ranging from amusement to sheer cringe.
One Twitter user, The Poll Lady, shared a video of Harris dancing and pondered if any Indian politician could dance better than her. This prompted political commentator Anthony Brian Logan to chime in with his own mockery of the VP’s moves. “Kamala Harris with the granny moves at her 50th Anniversary of Hip-Hop party,” Logan tweeted, ensuring the world knew his thoughts on her dancing skills.
The online mockery continued, with several users labeling Harris’ dance as the “Cackle Shuffle,” referencing her infectious laugh. Others simply expressed their distaste with the phrase, “yuck.” Harris seemed to escalate her embarrassment when the DJ played Q-Tip’s hit song “Vivrant Thing.” The Vice President stiffly bopped in place and attempted to mouth the words, but it was clear she didn’t know the lyrics.
While Harris was busy trying to find her groove, the American people continue to face more pressing issues like soaring gas prices, rising costs of groceries, and inflation. Social media users were quick to criticize Harris for her choice of recreational activities, pointing out the stark contrast between her apparent carefree demeanor and the real-world struggles faced by everyday Americans.
As conservatives, it is our duty to hold our elected officials accountable and question their priorities. While it’s important for politicians to engage with popular culture, it’s concerning when their actions seem detached from the struggles of the American people. We need leaders who are focused on finding solutions to our pressing problems, rather than busting out dance moves at backyard parties.
