Rep. Jim Jordan asked the U.S. Attorney for the District of Delaware, David Weiss, for more information about the Hunter Biden probe and the leak claims. Weiss has given Rep. Jordan the information he asked for. But instead of giving a clear answer, Weiss gave a very strange reason. He refused to work with Jordan's group any more, saying that an investigation was still going on and that private information needed to be kept secret. This is a common reason why government agencies like the Department of Justice (DOJ) don't give Congress information. It's crazy that they can just say "no" to calls for oversight and responsibility that make sense.

Weiss also said that there was no retaliation against the IRS informants, but the evidence of Gary Shapley, who is known to the public, says otherwise. After he told Congress what he knew, Shapley and his team were taken off the case. Shapley still has a job, but putting someone on the back burner while still paying them can be seen as revenge. Weiss is clearly trying to hide any crime and protect the crooked system.

In a strange turn, Weiss seems to back up some of the whistleblower's claims while still denying them. He says again that he has the final say in the case, but then says that he can only charge people in his own area. Usually, if a case needs to be brought in another district, the United States Attorney's Office for that district is called and asked to help. If that doesn't work, someone can ask to be a special attorney. But Weiss doesn't say if he tried to file charges in other areas and wasn't helped. It's clear that he is trying to dodge answering the important questions and taking responsibility.
Overall, Weiss's letter creates more questions than it answers. It's clear that he's trying to avoid directly disagreeing with what the leaks have said. This letter smells like it was written by someone who knows they are in trouble but doesn't know how to get out of it. The Republicans in Congress should keep pushing for answers and hold Weiss responsible. It's time to reveal and break down the corrupt bureaucratic system that is willing to protect its own at the price of justice.
