The White House reluctantly confirmed Wednesday reports that Hamas terrorists have been engaging in heinous and despicable acts of sexual abuse against hostages captured in the Oct. 7 terrorist attacks. Despite being constantly pressed by the media on the disturbing reports of sexual violence, the White House has failed to directly address the individual cases. However, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre did denounce the violence during a recent press briefing.
National Security Council spokesman John Kirby was questioned once again on whether the U.S. or Israel had any evidence to suggest that the female hostages held by Hamas are victims of sexual violence. While he couldn’t provide details on specific cases, Kirby acknowledged the sickening reality that Hamas uses sexual violence as a weapon and a tool. He emphasized that it is a matter of record, particularly since the October 7 attacks, and since listening to the testimonies of released hostages. Kirby sadly concluded that it is safe to assume that Hamas is still using sexual violence as a weapon, though he refrained from discussing specific cases.

Despite brokering a temporary ceasefire agreement with Israeli officials, Hamas continues to hold female hostages. In response, Israel is preparing to launch a new offensive in southern Gaza in a bid to free the remaining hostages from the clutches of these despicable terrorists.
The White House’s vague and hesitant acknowledgement of these horrifying reports has left many Americans appalled and demanding stronger action against the Hamas terrorists. The Biden administration must take a firm stance against these acts of sexual violence and work with its allies to ensure the safe return of all hostages held by Hamas. It’s time for President Biden to show leadership and not shy away from holding these terrorists accountable for their monstrous actions.
