Great news emerged from the Middle East on Wednesday as the White House confirmed that a bunch of foreigners, including some Americans, were able to leave Gaza and go to Egypt through the Rafah border crossing. This is a big deal because it means that more people will have the opportunity to leave in the coming days. The United States was able to secure safe passage for wounded Palestinians and foreign nationals, including Americans, to leave Gaza through the Rafah crossing.
John Kirby, who knows a lot about foreign policy and national security, mentioned that this is just the beginning and there will be more departures soon. Kirby also said that this success is thanks to President Biden and Secretary Blinken doing their thing and talking to important people. The departure of Americans and others happened because of all the hard work and diplomacy that was done by the United States.

Matthew Miller from the State Department talked about the situation at the daily briefing and confirmed the good news. It was a top priority for the United States to open up the Rafah crossing not only for trucks but also for Americans and other foreigners to leave Gaza. The president, the secretary, and other important people have been working really hard on this. An initial group of foreign nationals, including Americans, were able to leave Gaza through Rafah today, and there will be more departures over the next few days.
They want to make sure that Americans and their family members are able to leave safely, so they have given them specific departure dates and instructions on how to leave. The U.S. Embassy in Cairo is there to help Americans when they arrive in Egypt. The State Department mentioned that there are at least 400 American citizens and their families stuck in Gaza.
