Aaron Sorkin Suggests Romney over Biden for 2024 as Harris Stumbles in Polls

In a classic case of “what was he thinking?” Aaron Sorkin, the man behind the curtain of liberal television triumphs like “The West Wing,” recently floated the notion that Sen. Mitt Romney should replace President Joe Biden on the 2024 ticket. It might seem like a plot twist from one of Sorkin’s own scripts, but it turns out this wasn’t a satire; the man was earnest, at least initially, in his guest essay for the New York Times.

Sorkin’s grand idea was that Romney could act as a unifying force between the parties, rallying the anti-Trump crowd while still giving the establishment a warm, fuzzy feeling. Never mind that this could throw a wrench in the well-oiled machine of Democrat identity politics. Instead of falling for this questionable strategy, the Democrats seem intent on propping up Vice President Kamala Harris as their presidential nominee—even though most people would agree her poll numbers make Biden look like a rock star.

In the naive minds of Democrats, an old white man like Romney could never overshadow a “first woman president” who also happens to be Black. The intersectionalists are out in full force, and they have no intention of letting the likes of Romney stroll in and steal Kamala’s spotlight. Despite her somewhat lackluster performance, the party is doubling down on its future with Harris. Polls might show her trailing behind the competition, but who needs cold, hard data when you have identity politics to guide your decisions?

After Biden announced his decision to bow out, Sorkin scrambled to cover his tracks faster than a Democrat politician in a scandal. He borrowed the X account of fellow “West Wing” alum Josh Malina to indicate he had a sudden change of heart. Apparently, his idea of unity and ideal governance crumbled the minute he saw the reality of Biden’s departure, as he quickly backtracked to champion Harris.

Romney himself, for his part, said little about Sorkin’s wild proposal but showed a smattering of respect for Biden’s choice to withdraw. Perhaps he was just glad to avoid being thrown into a middle of a leftist melodrama. Meanwhile, the Democrats are creatively trying to draft him for every role imaginable, even suggesting he take over as President of Harvard University, stepping into those shoes after the former president’s recent plagiarism scandal. Nothing says “party of ideas,” like asking a moderate Republican to save them from their mess.

So here we are—Biden is out, Harris is gearing up to be the anointed one, and everyone in the leftist camp is tiptoeing around the truth. Will Harris have Biden’s help on the campaign trail, or will he be too busy trying to convince America that he did a better job handling COVID than he did with… well, everything else? It’s a wild time for Democrats, but they’d better brace themselves—Romney isn’t their chosen hero, and he’s not coming to save the day.
