The Alaska Department of Revenue is making strides in disbursing the Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) to residents who have been eagerly awaiting their share of the state's natural resource wealth. Those with the "Eligible-Not Paid" status can anticipate receiving their PFD payments for 2023 or earlier on March 21.
To qualify for this program, applicants must commit to residing in Alaska indefinitely and must not have felony convictions. Additionally, they must meet various other criteria to be considered for the payments.
The amount of the PFD payment is determined by the state's annual mineral revenues, with eligible residents receiving their payments annually. For the 2023 PFD, each check amounted to a substantial $1,312, and the distribution process commenced in October.
Adam Crum, Commissioner of the Alaska Department of Revenue, expressed his excitement about the 2023 payment, recognizing it as the 42nd year of Alaskans receiving their rightful share of the state's natural resources. He also praised the diligent efforts of the Permanent Fund Dividend Division in administering the program and processing applications.
With over 8,000 more applications processed compared to the previous year, Crum highlighted that the 2023 PFD will inject nearly $1 billion into the state's economy, directly benefiting Alaskans throughout the region.
As the distribution of the 2023 PFD approaches completion, applications for the 2024 Permanent Fund Dividend are currently open and will remain so until March 31. Interested individuals can conveniently apply online or through a paper form, adhering to the eligibility criteria outlined on the PFD website.
It is evident that the PFD program continues to serve as a vital source of support for Alaska's residents and contributes significantly to the state's economic well-being.
