Another NFL Player Arrested: When Will They Learn Accountability?

Another week, another NFL player in handcuffs. This time it’s Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman getting arrested on felony weapons charges. You’d think these millionaire athletes would have enough sense to stay out of trouble, but apparently common sense isn’t so common anymore.

Perryman was booked Friday night and is due in court Tuesday. The 32-year-old veteran should know better by now. He’s had plenty of chances to learn from other players’ mistakes, but here we are again with another preventable arrest that could derail his career.

This isn’t happening in a vacuum either. Cleveland Browns rookie Quinshon Judkins got arrested for domestic violence just weeks ago. Auburn’s Hollis Davidson got busted with drugs and a THC vape pen. The pattern is clear and it’s getting worse every year.

These players make more money in one season than most Americans make in a lifetime. They have every advantage you could imagine – money, fame, opportunities most people only dream about. Yet they keep throwing it all away with stupid decisions that any responsible adult would avoid.

What’s really frustrating is how the NFL and these teams just shrug their shoulders. They put out weak statements about “gathering information” while paying these guys millions. There’s no real accountability, no serious consequences that might actually change behavior.

Meanwhile, hardworking Americans are watching their tax dollars go toward stadiums for teams that employ criminals. Fans spend their hard-earned money on tickets and merchandise to support players who can’t even follow basic laws. It’s a slap in the face to everyone who plays by the rules.

The league talks big about character and community, but their actions tell a different story. They’re more worried about protecting their investment than holding players accountable. Until that changes, we’ll keep seeing the same headlines over and over again.

American families deserve better role models than this. Our kids are watching, and what they’re seeing is that money and talent can buy you out of trouble. That’s not the message we should be sending to the next generation about responsibility and consequences.
