Tom Homan, the U.S. Border Security czar, is making waves once again, suggesting that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez may soon find herself facing some serious legal trouble. The reason? Her recent Instagram live webinar extravaganza called “Know Your Rights,” which doubles as a how-to guide for illegal aliens to outsmart ICE. If this sounds like a plot twist straight from a bad TV drama, it’s not. It’s real life in the bizarre world of progressive politics.
Hosted on the same platform where influencers promote skincare routines and morning coffee, Ocasio-Cortez’s webinar featured legal aid from the Immigrant Defense Project, providing tips and tricks on how to dodge deportation officers. Among the gems of “wisdom” dispensed was the advice that illegal immigrants absolutely do not have to open their doors to ICE agents unless an actual judge’s warrant says otherwise. One can almost hear the collective sigh of relief from those who might have had the rude awakening of a knock on their door.

It’s rich to see this extreme push to “empower” citizens—who just happen not to be citizens at all—under the guise of protecting them from lawful enforcement efforts. A lawyer invited to participate in the webinar passionately stated that ICE’s operations are inherently fearful tactics aimed at creating panic. Of course, this statement might leave some scratching their heads about who, exactly, is creating panic here. AOC’s actions certainly may thwart legitimate law enforcement, raising eyebrows and questions about her actual intent.
Homan didn’t hold back on his concerns regarding this troubling behavior. He reached out to the Deputy Attorney General to investigate the implications of Ocasio-Cortez’s actions and to understand whether her advice constitutes an actual impediment to law enforcement. There’s a fine line to walk when it comes to insider knowledge protecting illegal activities, and it seems Homan is ready to bring the blender of justice to spin out the ingredients of what might be a serious legal cocktail for AOC.
The saga doesn’t end there. Homan’s willingness to explore the legal implications of Ocasio-Cortez’s “advice” underscores a larger issue in the ongoing battle over immigration policy and enforcement. He hinted that if necessary, federal funding could dry up for cities like New York that actively protect illegal immigrants. If there’s one thing that tends to get a politician’s attention, it’s the possibility of losing federal dollars. Ocasio-Cortez might want to rethink her next Instagram session—or at least get a lawyer on speed dial.
