Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a member of the House of Representatives from New York, said that the US should stop granting refuge to Jair Bolsonaro, the former president of Brazil.
After losing his bid for the presidency in 2022, Bolsonaro blamed the defeat on a software bug. Since his last days in office, before Luiz Inacio da Silva became the new president, he has been staying in Florida.
The scenes of his supporters rushing into government buildings, which were similar to those that occurred in the US during the Capitol riot in 2021, were reminiscent of the events that occurred in the country.

According to CNN, Bolsonaro denounced his supporters' actions, though he did not explicitly state that he lost the election. His office also claimed that it was working with the new government.
Various world leaders, including US President Joe Biden, condemned the violent acts that occurred in Brazil. Biden noted that he looks forward to working with the new president of Brazil, Luiz Inacio Silva. He also stated that the people of Brazil should not be undermined.
