Ben Shapiro just proved what we all know about the WNBA. The conservative host took on a challenge to name WNBA players versus TikTok stars. He could barely tell the difference because nobody watches women’s basketball.
This comes after WNBA players wore shirts saying “Pay Us What You Owe Us” during their All-Star game. They want more money even though their league loses 50 million dollars every year. The NBA has to cover their losses like a parent paying for a failed business.
Shapiro pointed out the obvious truth that these players ignore. You get paid what you’re worth in the market. If fans don’t watch and buy tickets, why should players get rich?
The numbers don’t lie about this failing league. WNBA players only bring in 9 percent of their league’s revenue. NBA players earn about 50 percent of their league’s much bigger profits because people actually watch them play.
Caitlin Clark is the only player most Americans can name. Even other WNBA players are jealous of her fame and success. She brings in viewers while her teammates complain about money they haven’t earned.
The whole “pay us what you owe us” attitude shows what’s wrong with America today. Too many people think they deserve success without earning it. Hard work and results should determine your paycheck, not your feelings.
Ben Shapiro’s challenge exposed the reality that most WNBA players are unknown. These women want NBA money but can’t even get people to learn their names. That’s not how business works in the real world.
American sports fans vote with their wallets and remote controls. Until the WNBA can fill arenas and get TV ratings, they should be grateful the NBA keeps them afloat instead of demanding handouts.
