Popular conservative pundit Ben Shapiro criticized Donald Trump for mocking Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. During a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, Trump noted that he was polling at 71 percent, while DeSantis was at 10%.
Shapiro took to Twitter to criticize the former President for calling Florida Governor Ron DeSantis "Ron DeSanctimonious."
He said that the president's attack on a popular candidate two days before an election is not only a poor branding strategy, but it also reminds people that he has no discipline.
The nickname given to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis by Trump came as the president was reportedly planning on announcing his White House run in 2024. DeSantis is not expected to run for the presidency if Trump decides to run.
Gabriel Sherman, a reporter for Vanity Fair, claimed that DeSantis would not challenge Trump if he decides to run for president in 2024.
According to a Republican who was briefed on the conversations between the governor and donors, DeSantis has told them that he would not run if Trump decides to run. He said that at 44 years old, DeSantis would be able to avoid a vigorous primary fight against Trump.
