The White House Stays in the Dark on Netanyahu’s Invasion Plans
The White House seems to be in the dark when it comes to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s plans to invade Rafah. Despite ongoing discussions about a ceasefire in Gaza, Netanyahu reportedly gave the green light to new attack plans. National Security Council spokesman John Kirby briefed reporters on the situation, expressing a cautious approach to Netanyahu’s potential offensive. Kirby emphasized the need for a credible and executable plan to ensure the safety of the more than a million Gazans seeking refuge in Rafah.
The United States is actively involved in negotiations regarding the ceasefire, with talks taking place in Doha, Qatar. However, the U.S. has chosen not to send a delegation for the latest round of discussions. Despite this, Kirby assured the public that the U.S. will still be involved in the negotiations, emphasizing the seriousness of the efforts.
It seems that the White House is taking a wait-and-see approach to Netanyahu’s plans, expressing a willingness to review the specifics of the potential offensive. However, there are clear concerns about the impact on the civilian population in Rafah, with Kirby warning against a major offensive without proper consideration for the safety and security of the Gazans.
In the meantime, negotiations for a ceasefire continue, and the United States remains engaged in the process, despite the absence of a physical delegation at the latest talks. The situation remains tense as the White House treads carefully in the face of escalating tensions in the region.
