The Biden presidency has been hit hard with shocking accusations of corruption that even media outlets like CNN and The New York Times cannot ignore. The president’s approval rating is continuing to plummet, with many progressive Democrats questioning if he will even be able to legally take on his chief rival Donald Trump. Meanwhile, reports have emerged that a group of congressional Democrats have been meeting with former President Barack Obama, who they hope will lead their ticket for the next election.

In an article from Politico Magazine, it is revealed that despite his age, former President Obama is still very much engaged with his party’s rising stars. He has been hosting long private meetings with a variety of next-generation House Democrats, including those on the progressive end of the party such as Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, as well as more moderate lawmakers such as Mikie Sherrill. The intimate gatherings took place over cheese and crackers in Obama’s Washington office, where they shared laughs and discussed policy issues, among other things.
Despite Obama’s professed commitment to assisting his party, one attendee complained that Obama was too careful to avoid antagonizing Biden. It was suggested that the former president could help Democrats by being more of a political presence and articulating the stakes, as he did memorably in the 2018 midterms after turning to Bill Clinton for help.
While the Politico Magazine piece is clearly attempting to obscure the special relationship between Barack Obama and Joe Biden, this ongoing connection is impossible to ignore. Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki confirmed in a recent interview that the Obamas and Bidens talk regularly, although the specific details of these conversations remain kept private.
It’s clear that the Democratic Party’s brand is in need of repair to distract from the malingering and malaise of Joe Biden’s presidency. Enter Barack Obama, who has proven time and time again that he still has his finger on the pulse of his party. If his years of experience as a world leader have taught us anything, it’s that he is more than capable of guiding the next generation of House Democrats towards a brighter future.
