Biden Debate Disaster Signals Deepening Dementia Dilemma

The dam holding back President Joe Biden’s senility broke wide open during the June 27th presidential debate. This disastrous 90-minute spectacle left no doubt that the President is out of his depth. Yet, despite the overwhelming evidence of his cognitive decline, Biden remains steadfastly glued to his office chair, refusing to entertain any thoughts of stepping down.

Biden has been on an interview blitz worthy of a rock star, declaring in one puff-piece after another that only divine intervention could compel him to drop out. Ironically, these same interviews were filled with gaffes that could have easily been divine nudges suggesting he exit, stage left. His campaign even scrambled to issue an open letter to congressional Democrats, asserting that his nomination was fair and square, despite the fact that any potential rival within the party was either scared off or shunned.

The President tried to dismiss the debate catastrophe, urging donors to refocus and take aim at the true enemy—Donald Trump. Unfortunately, Biden’s choice of words came back to haunt him after an assassination attempt on Trump, revealing a significant double standard given Biden’s previous outrage over Trump’s innocent use of metaphors. The spotlight on his deteriorating mental state finally seems to be piercing the fog in Biden’s mind, making him realize a change might be needed.

According to a recent CNN dispatch, Biden actually floated the idea to advisers aboard Air Force One, questioning whether he should listen to those calling for him to step aside. This marks the first visible crack in his otherwise stubborn facade. Inside sources suggest that behind the scenes, Biden is far more receptive to stepping down than his public bravado would suggest. This epiphany came after Biden cut a Nevada trip short due to a positive COVID-19 test, despite being vaccinated and boosted.

This trip had its own share of Bidenisms, even before the virus diagnosis. He fumbled and forgot the names of significant figures like Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, instead referring to Austin as “the black man” during an interview. Not to mention, critical cracks in Democratic unity appeared when Rep. Adam Schiff of California suggested Biden should pass the torch to secure his legacy, an implicit vote of no-confidence from within.

The murmurs of Biden stepping aside were echoed by mega-donors halting their contributions to his re-election campaign, and a pushback of a virtual nomination process that would have secured his spot. The reality is sinking into Biden’s inner circle, leaving them to ponder the viability of a Harris-led ticket. Harris, whose progressive credentials might be a hard sell in the Rust Belt, could face an uphill battle against Trump and his Ohioan running mate J.D. Vance.

As discussions continue behind closed doors on Capitol Hill, Biden’s public front remains as defiant as ever. A spokesman preposterously declared Biden’s inevitable victory this November despite the glaring signs of a campaign being overshadowed by a collapsing figurehead. One thing is clear: the man’s stubbornness might just steer his party directly into the iceberg. Where this slow-motion disaster will leave the Democrats, only time will tell, but safe to say, the party’s backup plan looks far from ready for prime time.
