In the last two years, since the Supreme Court Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision that overturned Roe v. Wade, there have been numerous attacks on pro-life pregnancy centers and churches by pro-abortion activists. These acts included vandalism, property damage, arson, and even assaults. Despite these criminal actions, the Biden administration’s Department of Justice (DOJ) has focused more on prosecuting pro-lifers who peacefully protest at abortion clinics rather than those responsible for attacking pregnancy centers and churches.
The Catholic Vote reported that as of March, 90 pregnancy resource groups experienced various forms of attacks, while over 250 Catholic churches were targeted by pro-abortion activists. Some of these attacks have been linked to groups like Antifa. However, the DOJ has only taken action against a few individuals involved in these attacks, opting instead to target pro-life individuals protesting at abortion clinics under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act.

This focus on prosecuting pro-lifers for their beliefs has raised concerns among conservative voices, who see it as a double standard in the administration’s priorities. While pro-lifers face imprisonment for peaceful protests, those responsible for violent attacks on pregnancy centers and churches have not faced similar consequences. The lack of action against these criminals highlights a skewed approach to enforcing the law based on political ideology.
The discrepancy in the DOJ’s response to these incidents has prompted criticism from conservative leaders like Senator Ted Cruz, who questioned Attorney General Merrick Garland about the lack of charges against those attacking churches and pregnancy centers. Garland mentioned that the perpetrators operated discreetly but assured that the FBI was investigating these crimes with urgency. However, the apparent delay in prosecuting these cases continues to draw scrutiny and raises questions about the administration’s commitment to upholding the law impartially.
Overall, the selective enforcement of laws by the Biden DOJ, especially regarding attacks on pro-life institutions, reflects a concerning trend of prioritizing political agendas over justice. The failure to hold accountable those who commit crimes against pregnancy centers and churches while targeting peaceful pro-life protestors underscores the need for unbiased and fair application of the law.
