President Joe Biden once again shows his lack of understanding when it comes to foreign policy, this time in his demand for an “immediate ceasefire” from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The White House statement reads like a laundry list of demands, essentially threatening to withdraw U.S. support if Israel doesn’t comply. What happened to standing strong with our allies?

Biden spoke with Prime Minister Netanyahu about the situation in Gaza and essentially parroted Hamas’s demands for a ceasefire before any deal to secure the release of Israeli hostages. It’s like Biden forgot that Israel has been dealing with the constant threat of Hamas for years and knows what’s best for its own security.
The Biden administration continues to backpedal on its support for Israel. Just last month, the U.S. abstained from a UN Security Council Resolution, effectively allowing it to pass, and against Israel’s interests. This move contradicts our previous agreements with Israel regarding the conditions for a ceasefire.
Now, the White House won’t even clarify what the consequences will be if Israel doesn’t cave to Biden’s demands. This lack of transparency is troubling and reeks of diplomatic incompetence.
To make matters worse, the accidental killing of humanitarian workers in an airstrike seems to be the straw that broke the camel’s back for Biden, pushing him to demand a ceasefire. It’s as if he’s blind to the fact that Hamas intentionally puts civilians in harm’s way to manipulate the international community.
Biden’s demand effectively leaves Israel in a no-win situation. If they continue military operations, they risk doing so without U.S. support. And if they try to negotiate a hostage deal, they’ll have significantly less leverage without U.S. backing. It’s a blatant betrayal of our ally at a critical time.
Hamas’s despicable strategy of using human shields is working, thanks to Biden’s lack of spine. By succumbing to their demands, Biden has effectively handed them a victory – unless Israel decides to take a stand without U.S. support.
Meanwhile, Iran is continuing to pose a threat to Israel, with possible reprisal attacks looming after an Israeli airstrike took out two Iranian generals in Syria. The U.S.’s wavering support only emboldens Iran and endangers Israel further.
When confronted about Biden’s supposed “unwavering” support for Israel, the White House struggled to provide a coherent response. It’s clear that Biden’s promises mean nothing when it comes to standing strong with our allies.
It’s time for Biden to wake up and realize that his wishy-washy foreign policy only emboldens our enemies and weakens our allies. Israel needs a firm and reliable partner, not a flip-flopper in the White House.
