Biden Judge Forces Taxpayer Bailout for UCLA Despite Antisemitism Scandal

The Biden administration has once again stepped in to shield UCLA from accountability, reinstating more than half a billion dollars in federal funding that was cut during the Trump administration. The cuts were originally made in response to the university’s failure to address antisemitism on campus, including protests and designated “exclusion zones” that targeted Jewish students. Rather than requiring UCLA to meet even basic standards of fairness or equality, a Biden-appointed judge ruled that funding must continue, effectively rewarding an institution that has failed to protect its own students.

What UCLA pushes under the banner of “diversity” and “holistic admissions” is, in truth, a thinly veiled racial quota system. It goes directly against the spirit of the Supreme Court’s ruling that banned race-based affirmative action in college admissions. Qualified students are left behind while the university manipulates race and identity politics to achieve political goals that have little to do with education. All the while, Jewish students face growing hostility, especially as pro-Palestinian activists dominate campus, block access to spaces, and even threaten violence in the wake of Hamas terrorism abroad. Instead of firm leadership, UCLA has offered silence, settlements, and cover-ups.

The legal rationale used to block the funding cuts is an all-too-familiar story. Through procedural technicalities and bureaucratic excuses, the courts continue to shield left-wing universities from accountability. This latest ruling demonstrates how the judicial system has been weaponized to protect elite institutions that are openly hostile to American values. The question becomes: where is the justice for the students who were targeted, harassed, or excluded under the university’s watch?

UCLA’s scramble for taxpayer money also highlights a deeper problem: many of today’s universities rely on endless government handouts to prop up bloated, ideologically driven bureaucracies. When funding is cut, schools immediately play the victim, accusing political opponents of “attacking education.” But what they truly fear is losing the taxpayer-funded gravy train that allows them to indoctrinate students with divisive, anti-American ideologies. It is difficult to see how funneling billions to schools that tolerate antisemitism and push grievance politics serves the public good.

This latest development leaves parents, taxpayers, and students with a sobering reality: courts and left-wing politicians are intent on protecting failing institutions rather than reforming them. Instead of upholding fairness, equality, and accountability, they’ve propped up universities like UCLA as models of “progress.” Hardworking Americans are once again left footing the bill for policies that erode free speech, weaken trust in higher education, and embolden universities that openly reject the values most Americans still hold dear. The system is indeed broken, and until universities are forced to live up to genuine standards of fairness, taxpayers will remain unwilling patrons of an agenda they never asked for.
