During a speech in Georgia, Biden was alluding to the state's Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who blamed him for the deaths of two brothers due to the opioid fentanyl.
During a hearing of the House Homeland Security Committee, Rebecca Kiessling, the mother of two sons who died due to the opioid crisis, criticized Democrats for failing to secure the border. Her sons, Kyler, 18, and Caleb, 20, overdosed on fentanyl in 2020 after getting caught up in the drug's flow from Mexico.
According to her, drug dealers are being welcomed into the country by the authorities. She also stated that they are not protecting the children.
In response, Biden referred to Greene and said that there will be more Republican candidates running for office in the next election.
When asked about the comments made by the mother of two sons who died due to the opioid crisis, Biden noted that she was very specific about what happened to her sons. He then said that the drugs that killed her sons came from the previous administration.
Some people criticized Biden's comments. Mike Lee of Utah, a Republican senator, called for the former vice president to immediately issue an apology.
In response, Biden said that nobody in the country, let alone the president, would laugh at the mother of two sons who lost their lives to an overdose of fentanyl.

Commentator and conservative pundit, Robby Starbuck, called Biden's comments "incredibly vile" and "inappropriate."
The DEA claims that Mexican drug cartels are responsible for the production of fentanyl, which is manufactured using chemicals that originated from China. In fiscal year 2022, the US Border Patrol seized over 14,000 pounds of fentanyl. In Los Angeles, the number of overdose deaths increased by over a hundred0% in 2022.
