Biden’s 2024 Grip Crumbles, Dems Eyeing Alternatives!

Despite being the incumbent president and leader of the Democratic Party, Joe Biden’s grip on his party’s nomination for the 2024 presidential election seems to be slipping. According to a recent CNN poll, the former Vice President only holds 60 percent of the vote, while 20 percent of respondents back Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and 8 percent support Marianne Williamson. Another 8 percent claimed to support “someone else,” while 5 percent had “no opinion.”

The poll gets even worse for Biden. Among the 55 percent of voters who identify as Democrats or lean in their direction, 45 percent claim they may change their minds on whom to back. Additionally, 35 percent of all respondents have a favorable opinion of Biden, the lowest his numbers have ever been. Only a third of Americans say that Biden winning in 2024 would be a “step forward” or a “triumph” for the country.

The poll suggests that while Biden may win the support of a majority of Democratic-aligned voters in 2024, he may struggle to retain white non-college and younger Democratic-leaning voters. The results also show that Biden is struggling to win support from independents who lean Democrat.

While the numbers look grim for Biden’s reelection chances, his most serious challenger, for now, is not even on the Democratic radar. The poll does not mention Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who many believe will run in the Republican presidential primaries. Among Republicans, former President Trump still holds between 40 and 60 percent of the vote, according to various polls.

DeSantis, for his part, is confident he can unify the Republican Party and earn crossovers from independents who want to move on from Biden. During a Wednesday press call, DeSantis stated his belief that he is the “vehicle” voters are looking for and highlighted his widespread support among nationwide Republicans.

Only time will tell which party’s nominee will emerge victorious in 2024, but the data does not look good for Biden. Many believe that if the Democratic Party wants any chance of winning, it will need to read the writing on the wall and start to consider its options outside of Biden.
