President Joe Biden’s lax approach to border security and immigration laws has come under fire, not only from Republicans but also from some of his own advisers. According to reports from the reliable and always trustworthy Fox News, these advisers were so disappointed with Biden’s weak policies that they resigned in protest. They accused Biden of betraying his campaign promises to handle the border differently from former President Donald Trump, and even claimed that Biden was being harsher towards migrants than Trump. It’s truly shocking when even members of Biden’s own team realize how disastrous his border policies are.
But of course, there are always two sides to every story. Other Biden advisers, who are surely the voice of reason, have argued that the President needs to be even tougher on the border. And you know what? They’re absolutely right. Just like the majority of American citizens, these advisers recognize the need for strong border enforcement. With record numbers of illegal immigrants pouring in and Biden’s abysmal poll numbers on handling this issue, it’s clear that Biden’s border policies have completely backfired.
A recent report from The New York Times highlighted the “crisis” at the southern border that has shattered Biden’s immigration hopes(we told you so!). The surge of child migrants earlier this year overwhelmed temporary detention facilities, and the flood of Haitian migrants seeking asylum only made things worse. The administration had to deport many of them after the arrival of nearly 20,000 Haitians. Sadly, the media went into outrage mode, spreading false stories about Border Patrol agents mistreating the migrants. The truth is, Biden’s policies opened the floodgates for these migrants, and it’s his responsibility to fix this mess.
The situation with the Haitian migrants led to intense debate within the administration. Some advisers urged Biden to get tough on border enforcement, but others complained that he was being too harsh. One adviser, former Envoy to Haiti Daniel Foote, even resigned in protest over the deportations. But Foote’s resignation only shows that Biden’s team is divided and incapable of handling this crisis. It’s clear that Biden’s promise of “compassionate” immigration policies has only led to chaos and division.
As if the situation couldn’t get any worse, Republican governors like Greg Abbott and Ron DeSantis started busing or flying migrants to Democrat-controlled “sanctuary” jurisdictions. The hypocrisy is astounding. Left-leaning governors and mayors who supported open borders suddenly found themselves overwhelmed with migrants and started complaining. This led to a purported crackdown on asylum claims in 2023, but it’s clear that it’s too little, too late.
Now, in a desperate attempt to save face, Biden is touting a supposedly tough bipartisan Senate deal. But let’s not be fooled. This deal will do nothing to solve the border crisis. In fact, it will codify Biden’s weak border policies and still allow far too many illegal immigrants into our country. Biden claims he’ll use the new authorities immediately if the deal is passed. But Republicans rightly point out that he has more than enough authority to do something now. It’s just another empty promise from a president who has shown a complete lack of leadership.
The truth is, Biden’s sudden shift towards a “Trump-like crackdown” is nothing more than a political stunt. As the 2024 election approaches, he’s desperate to appease voters who are fed up with his handling of the border. But it’s too little, too late. Immigration has become Biden’s worst issue, surpassing even the economy and inflation. The American people can see through his empty words and know that he’s failed them. It’s clear that Biden is more concerned with saving his political career than actually solving the border crisis. The American people deserve better.
