American values are under siege once again by an administration more concerned with open borders than the safety of its citizens. Case in point: the harrowing incident in New York City, where an illegal immigrant shot a Border Patrol officer in the face. The accused shooter, who strayed into our borders from the Dominican Republic, was allowed entry after a flimsy vetting process over Zoom. Yes, you read that correctly: American border security has now come down to Zoom calls.
The system is clearly broken, and the blame rests squarely on the Biden administration. It should be no surprise that improperly vetted individuals are given free rein to wreak havoc on American streets when there’s no room to detain them. Instead of ensuring our security, agents—already overwhelmed—are forced to resort to digital vetting due to a border policy that seems designed to fail.
The consequences are dire. What’s the logical outcome when you let a flood of illegal immigrants cross the border without sufficient background checks? More than 183,000 illegal migrants poured into our country in just one month at the southern border. No surprise, then, that some of them turn out to be criminals. To think that Democrats hail this mishap as a humanitarian triumph is both delusional and reckless.

This tragic episode once again exposes the hypocrisy of sanctuary cities, where progressive politicians prioritize ideology over the safety of their citizens. The liberals who run the show in these urban dystopias refuse to acknowledge that their sanctuary policies contribute to these violent acts. By protecting those who flout our immigration laws, they endanger law-abiding citizens and even brave officers who risk their lives to protect us.
One can’t help but wonder: does the left have any qualms about endangering America on the altar of political correctness? Until robust border security and stringent vetting processes are restored, such dangerous occurrences will continue. Why should American lives be collateral damage for a failed immigration policy that’s more about virtue signaling than real solutions?
