Meanwhile, sanctuary policies and political cover for open-border ideology are more than a policy mistake; they are a direct threat to public safety. State and local officials who block cooperation with federal authorities have allowed dangerous people to slip back into communities, a reality even state attorneys general and conservative commentators have warned about.
Conservative lawmakers are responding to the carnage Democrats ignore, pushing hardline measures to deter criminal entry and remove violent offenders — including proposals to make killings by illegal entrants punishable by the harshest penalties.
