The crisis along the U.S.-Mexico border is worsening by the day, and now we have another reason to be concerned. The recent Hamas terrorist invasion in Israel has shed light on the national security implications of our porous border. It’s alarming to know that the United States government has little to no information about the individuals illegally entering our country. This is all thanks to President Joe Biden’s lax approach to border security since taking office.
Believe it or not, over two million people have entered the country as “gotaways” since Biden’s inauguration. That’s right, they simply slipped through the cracks and are roaming freely in our country without any vetting or background checks. Can you imagine the potential danger we face with these unknown individuals amongst us? It’s a nightmare waiting to happen.
But it gets even worse. Border Patrol has apprehended almost 400 individuals on the terrorist watch list attempting to enter our country. And let’s not forget about the FBI’s search for members of an ISIS terrorist ring that was smuggled into the country. These are the kind of people we should be vigilant about, but Biden’s weak border policies have made it nearly impossible to keep them out.
On Tuesday, Fox News Channel’s Bill Melugin shared some shocking internal data from U.S. Customs and Border Protection. It turns out that tens of thousands of “special interest aliens” have been apprehended by border agents since 2021. These are individuals who potentially pose a national security risk to the United States due to their travel patterns or connections to terrorism. It’s a terrifying thought that so many of these individuals have managed to enter our country undetected.
NEW: Internal CBP data provided & confirmed by CBP sources reveals thousands of “special interest aliens” from mostly Middle Eastern countries have been apprehended by Border Patrol while crossing into U.S. illegally over last 2 years.
Syria: 538
Yemen: 139
Iran: 659
Iraq: 123…— Bill Melugin (@BillMelugin_) October 10, 2023
The data also revealed the countries of origin of these “special interest aliens.” We’re talking about individuals from Syria, Yemen, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Egypt, Pakistan, Mauritania, Uzbekistan, and Turkey. These are countries with known ties to terrorism, and yet, they are sending their citizens our way, taking advantage of the chaos at our border. It’s clear that these countries have little regard for the safety and security of the United States.
What’s even more concerning is that our border agents have no way of vetting these individuals properly. Most of their home countries refuse to share data or records with the U.S., making it impossible to match names with fingerprints. This lack of cooperation puts our nation at risk and leaves us vulnerable to potential terrorists slipping through the cracks.
It’s time for President Biden to wake up and take border security seriously. We cannot continue to allow the influx of illegal immigrants, especially those from countries with known terror ties. Our safety should be the top priority, and it’s time for our government to act accordingly. We need a strong and secure border, now more than ever.
