After President Biden took office in 2021, his administration wasted no time working with Big Tech to squash political opinions and facts they didn’t like. Former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki boldly admitted that they regularly made sure social media platforms were aware of narratives they deemed “dangerous to public health.” Psaki even went so far as to pressure Facebook to remove posts the administration found violating. This cozy Big Tech-government relationship opened a dangerous path to censorship, trampling all over the First Amendment.
The Biden administration tapped multiple federal agencies, like the Department of Homeland Security, FBI, and Centers for Disease Control, to coerce private companies into stifling free speech. This egregious move repeatedly violated the constitutional rights of Americans and journalists. Outlets like Townhall were repeatedly flagged for “misinformation” or “harmful content,” despite their efforts to expose government narratives and tell the truth.

To add insult to injury, the White House stood by the controversial Al Jazeera, a media outlet with reported ties to terrorism. Despite Al Jazeera journalists cheering on and participating in terrorist activities, the Biden administration defended their “free press rights.” This lopsided support showcased the administration’s disdain for conservative outlets and journalists while promoting terrorist-affiliated media.
The Biden administration’s hypocrisy was on full display as they condemned the Israeli government for banning Al Jazeera due to its propaganda and terrorist ties. Meanwhile, they praised the freedom of the press for Al Jazeera, turning a blind eye to the outlet’s morally reprehensible actions. This blatant double standard further underscored the administration’s willingness to protect leftist propaganda while stifling conservative voices.
The biased treatment of media outlets and journalists led to the realization that the fight against Big Tech and government censorship was an uphill battle. Townhall’s call to action for its VIP membership program highlighted the pressing need to combat this censorship. By offering a promo code to join the VIP membership at a discounted rate, they aimed to rally supporters in the fight against infringements on free speech.
The Biden administration’s unfounded favoritism toward leftist outlets and disregard for conservative voices showcased a dangerous erosion of First Amendment rights.
