The Pentagon press secretary, Air Force Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder, skillfully sidestepped a troublesome query on Thursday regarding the lack of accountability for a botched 2021 drone strike. In a display of brazen hypocrisy, the Biden administration demanded Israel punish officials for a comparable incident while failing to hold anyone responsible for the tragic error in Kabul.

In a stunning turn of events, what the Biden administration initially hailed as a successful strike on a terrorist in the aftermath of the deadly attack at the Kabul airport was revealed to be a horrific misfire. An innocent aid worker, along with two adults and seven children from his family, lost their lives as a result of the ill-fated drone strike. Shockingly, no one faced any repercussions for this grave mistake or the dissemination of false information.
Adding insult to injury, President Joe Biden and White House officials are now hypocritically calling for Israel to take action in response to a mistaken drone strike on aid workers from the World Central Kitchen, who were tragically mistaken for terrorists. The sheer audacity of this demand coming from the very administration that avoided any accountability for a similar, if not identical, tragedy is absolutely staggering.
When Washington Times reporter Mike Glenn confronted Gen. Ryder with the glaring double standard, the dodgy response perfectly encapsulated the administration’s refusal to acknowledge its own failings. Despite being directly questioned about the lack of consequences for the Kabul drone strike, Gen. Ryder shamelessly deflected, proclaiming an unwillingness to dwell on the past and instead focusing solely on the present situation.
Even White House national security spokesman John Kirby, who fervently pressed for accountability from Israel in light of the World Central Kitchen incident, shamelessly exonerated U.S. officials and soldiers for the Kabul strike in 2021. At that time, Kirby dismissed the devastating error as a mere “breakdown in process and execution in procedural events,” absolving any individual or leadership of negligence or misconduct.
The stark disparity between the administration’s demands for accountability from Israel and its own blatant disregard for the consequences of the Kabul drone strike is an egregious example of hypocrisy and double standards. It is a glaring illustration of the administration’s selective outrage and refusal to hold itself to the same standards it imposes on others.
As Breitbart News Senior Editor-at-Large Joel B. Pollak aptly points out, the Biden administration’s shameless hypocrisy is not only deeply unsettling but also a disheartening betrayal of the very principles of fairness and justice that it purports to champion. The stark contrast between the calls for accountability from Israel and the reckless impunity granted to U.S. officials is a testament to the administration’s glaring lack of integrity and ethical consistency.
