Biden’s Mental Fitness in Question: GOP Demands Transparency

Republicans tried to get answers yesterday about Joe Biden’s mental health and his use of an automatic pen for signing documents. Florida Rep. Randy Fine says Jill Biden “certainly could” be called to testify in this investigation. GOP lawmakers think unelected White House officials might have been making big decisions instead of Biden.

Anthony Bernal, who used to work for Jill Biden, became the second witness to refuse questions from Congress. He cited the Fifth Amendment to avoid answering whether Biden was fit to lead or if others did his job for him. This comes after Biden’s former doctor, Kevin O’Connor, also silenced himself with the same legal protection.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer called the situation “unfortunate,” saying Americans deserve transparency. He warned the probe could lead to criminal charges if evidence of rule-breaking is found. Comer highlighted the danger of “unelected” people running the White House without public accountability.

Biden dismissed the questions as political attacks, claiming he stayed fully briefed during his presidency. But critics argue his actions—like relying on autopens and delegating major responsibilities—raise legitimate concerns about his capacity. Conservatives point to this as part of a pattern where Democrats avoid scrutiny compared to Trump-era investigations.

Comer’s committee has two key questions: Was Biden mentally capable, and did his handlers secretly govern? Bernal dodged both, fueling suspicions about what’s being hidden. His lawyer claimed invoking the Fifth doesn’t prove guilt, but Republicans see it as obstruction.

This investigation mirrors past Democratic tactics but flipped politically. Back in 2021, Democrats subpoenaed dozens of witnesses for January 6—one rule for them, another for Republicans now. Critics say the left media ignores these details to protect Biden.

GOP lawmakers insist they’re not targeting Biden for personal reasons but to ensure executive branch integrity. “We need to know who’s really running the country,” Comer said. Many voters share this frustration with D.C. elitism and unaccountable leaders.

Fine hinted Jill Biden’s testimony could come next. Republicans argue this probe isn’t about personal grievances but upholding constitutional standards. They vow to keep pushing for answers, even if it ruffles establishment feathers.
