Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs, a Democrat, is pleading with President Joe Biden to give her state over $500 million to cover the costs of illegal immigration. Hobbs joins the ranks of other Democratic governors who are seeking these bailouts. In a letter to Biden, she outlined the costs related to the surge of illegal immigrants flooding Arizona since January 2021, requesting reimbursement from the federal government.
It’s interesting to note that while Hobbs is calling out the White House for the wave of illegal immigration, she falls short of asking Biden to actually address the problem. This seems to be a common tactic among Democratic governors, who complain about the strain caused by illegal aliens but won’t demand a stop to their arrival. It’s almost as if they want to keep the issue alive for political gain.

In August, New York Governor Kathy Hochul asked Biden to provide healthcare services, housing vouchers, free public transportation, and additional ESL services to illegal aliens in her state, all at the expense of the American taxpayer. Again, she didn’t demand a halt to illegal immigration, even though she acknowledged that it is the federal government’s responsibility to manage and control the nation’s borders. It’s frustrating to see these governors putting the burden on hardworking Americans instead of holding the Biden administration accountable.
Meanwhile, mayors of Democratic sanctuary cities like New York City and Chicago are also asking for billions in bailouts from Biden, while conveniently turning a blind eye to the inflow of illegal immigrants. The hypocrisy is astounding. These mayors should be addressing the root of the problem and demanding the White House secure the borders, rather than seeking more money to handle the consequences of their own failed policies.
In October, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker admitted that illegal immigration is straining his state’s taxpayers but didn’t ask Biden to stop sending new arrivals. Instead, he requested that Biden bring in more foreign workers. It’s unbelievable. These governors are prioritizing the interests of non-citizens over the well-being of their own residents.
It’s clear that Democratic governors are more interested in playing politics and appeasing their left-wing base than in actually solving the problem of illegal immigration. They are placing the burden on American taxpayers while refusing to hold Biden accountable for his failure to secure the border. It’s time for our leaders to put America and its citizens first.
