In a recent speech at Prince George’s Community College in Maryland, President Joe Biden defended his economic agenda, known as Bidenomics, against the Republican economic plan “MAGAnomics”. In a light-hearted manner, Biden joked about being the only president who hands out the opposition’s economic plan, displaying a book that he claimed to be the Republican plan. He argued that while America has the strongest economy among major economies, Republicans only attack it.
Biden warned that the Republican plan would harm the middle class by cutting social safety net programs, urging voters to choose between Bidenomics and MAGAnomics. However, the timing of this speech was overshadowed by the indictment of his son, Hunter Biden, on gun-related charges, as well as the impeachment inquiry into Biden’s involvement in his son’s business dealings. The White House declined to comment on the indictment, referring questions to the Department of Justice and Hunter Biden’s attorneys.

Despite these troubled developments, Biden officials brushed off the impeachment effort as “extreme politics at its worst” and emphasized that the president remains focused on his work. At a campaign reception, Biden expressed his dedication to dealing with issues that affect the American people every day, rather than being preoccupied with impeachment.
During his speech, Biden criticized the Republican plan as a “failed plan of trickle-down economics” and targeted former President Donald Trump, mocking him as the “emperor of debt” for creating more debt than any other president in one year. However, critics argue that Biden fails to consider the pandemic-related shutdowns in 2020 that caused job losses when criticizing his predecessor. Additionally, public polls suggest that the majority of Americans are dissatisfied with Biden’s handling of the economy, with voters trusting Trump more than Biden to fix the economy.
Addressing concerns about rising gas prices, Biden promised to lower them, while also warning that U.S. democracy is at risk and called for its defense. As the impeachment inquiry continues, it remains uncertain how it will impact Biden’s approval ratings. However, a CNN poll revealed that a majority of Americans believe Biden was involved in his son’s business dealings, with some perceiving his actions as illegal or unethical.
