The famous beer brand Bud Light has been having a tough time lately, according to Anson Frericks, a big shot former executive at Anheuser-Busch. Frericks went on Fox Business’s Cavuto: Coast to Coast and claimed that Bud Light has been stuck in a ditch, with sales down a whopping 30% week over week. Ouch! This is despite the beer bigwigs throwing three times their planned marketing budget at Bud Light last summer!
So, what’s the problem here? Frericks says that Anheuser-Busch hasn’t been begging its customers to come back. Yep, that’s right, they haven’t gotten down on their knees and pleaded with folks to give Bud Light another chance. It’s like when you accidentally break your mom’s favorite vase and you gotta really work hard to make things up to her. Bud Light needs to do some serious cookin’ and cleanin’ to win back those customers!
And it looks like one of the big hiccups for Bud Light was when they teamed up with a transgender social media star, Dylan Mulvaney, last March. After that, their financial numbers started lookin’ more like a rollercoaster than a steady uphill climb. But they’ve been tryin’ to fix things by buddying up with the Ultimate Fighting Championship and NFL legends like Emmitt Smith and Peyton Manning.
Just recently, Bud Light showed off a Super Bowl ad that featured a genie granting people’s wishes, and even had cameos from Peyton Manning and UFC President Dana White. Frericks admitted that the ad was “pretty decent,” but still doesn’t think it’s enough to rebuild Bud Light’s reputation with drinkers.
Even the former President, Donald Trump, had to give his two cents on the situation. He called Bud Light’s partnership with Mulvaney a “mistake of epic proportions” and claimed that the brand paid a “very big price” for it. But, he thinks Anheuser-Busch deserves a second chance and tossed out there that they’re “not a Woke company.”
But wait, there’s hope on the horizon! Anheuser-Busch CEO Michel Doukeris says 40% of former Bud Light lovers are willing to give the drink another shot. So, maybe there’s still a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel for ol’ Bud Light after all.
