Her video specifically mentioned the violent 18th Street Gang. This dangerous rhetoric encourages criminals to attack our law enforcement. The Department of Homeland Security condemned her comments as despicable. They said such garbage has caused a 500% increase in assaults against ICE officers.
Gonzalez told gangs they should be “protecting our turf” from immigration enforcement. She shamed gang members for not fighting back while others protest. Her words directly called for violence against federal officers doing their jobs. This is unacceptable behavior from any public official.
