When the Department of Homeland Security surged personnel into Charlotte this month, it wasn’t a publicity stunt; it was a direct response to public-safety risks that local leaders were refusing to address. Charlotte’s status as a sanctuary city and hesitance by local officials to cooperate has left federal agents little choice but to act to protect American communities from violent criminal illegal aliens. Americans who pay taxes and follow the law deserve a city government that defends them, not one that coddles lawbreakers.
DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin told viewers on Wake Up America that federal officers are routinely met by “highly organized agitators” who surround agents, throw projectiles, and try to frustrate lawful operations. Her account confirms what frontline agents and courageous locals have been saying for months: these are not peaceful neighborhood protests, they are coordinated campaigns to obstruct justice and intimidate law enforcement. It’s time to stop pretending anarchy is a legitimate form of policy protest.
Meanwhile, the Department of Homeland Security and state partners are getting results when they are allowed to do their jobs, as shown by Operation Dirtbag in Florida. That ten-day, state-federal effort rounded up more than 230 convicted criminal aliens, including over 150 sexual predators and child molesters who never should have been on American streets. Families in Florida can sleep easier because law enforcement had the authority and support to remove these dangerous people.
Yet city halls and liberal politicians across sanctuary jurisdictions continue to placate activists while ordinary citizens pay the price in safety and peace of mind. Their reflexive defense of “sanctuary” as a moral stance betrays a political faith that values ideology over children’s safety and neighborhoods’ security. Voters should remember which elected officials side with violent agitators and which side with the law-abiding majority.
Conservatives who love this country must rally behind our men and women in uniform at DHS, ICE, and Border Patrol instead of giving cover to those who would obstruct them. Support for lawful, targeted interior enforcement — paired with commonsense reforms to secure our borders — is how we protect our communities and restore order. Elect leaders who will demand cooperation from local governments and stop sanctuary policies that handcuff federal action.
If Americans want safer streets, they must stop applauding mobs that block police and federal officers and start demanding accountability from their mayors and county commissioners. The safety of our children and the rule of law are not negotiable. Stand with the patriots who put on a badge to protect us, and vote out the politicians who invite criminals in while blaming the brave men and women trying to keep us safe.
