White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt dropped some shocking truth bombs about Chicago today. She told reporters that the Windy City’s murder rate is more than double that of Islamabad, Pakistan. That’s right, a major American city is now more dangerous than a city in Pakistan. This is what happens when Democrats run things into the ground.
For seven straight years, Chicago has had the highest murder rate among US cities with over one million people. In 2024 alone, Chicago’s murder rate was three times higher than Los Angeles and nearly five times higher than New York City. These numbers should make every American angry. This is Governor JB Pritzker’s shameful legacy.
The crime stats get even worse when you dig deeper. Out of nearly 148,000 reported crimes in Chicago this year, police only made arrests in 16 percent of cases. That means criminals are getting away with murder, literally. Chicago has recovered more illegal guns than New York and Los Angeles combined.
Motor vehicle thefts in Chicago more than doubled since 2021. Carjackings happen every day while liberal politicians make excuses. The city has even been caught fudging their own crime numbers. If they’re lying about the data, you know the real situation is even worse.
Meanwhile, Governor Pritzker keeps pretending everything is fine. Leavitt called him out for parading around and claiming there’s nothing wrong. The people of Chicago know better because they’re living in fear every single day.
Compare this disaster to what’s happening in Washington DC under President Trump’s leadership. Since Trump took action, total crime in DC dropped 19 percent and violent crime fell 30 percent. Carjackings are down 67 percent and homicides dropped 57 percent.
This proves that strong conservative leadership gets results. When you crack down on criminals instead of coddling them, crime goes down fast. Trump’s bold approach is making DC safe and beautiful again.
Chicago needs the same treatment that’s working in Washington. It’s time for federal intervention to save this great American city from liberal failure. The people of Chicago deserve leaders who will fight crime, not enable it.
