A conservative news anchor on CNN didn’t hold back when she called out a Chicago teacher’s union leader for her hypocrisy. The union boss, Stacy Davis Gates, had been speaking out against private schools, even comparing them to segregation academies. But it turns out, she sends her own son to a private school. Talk about double standards!
The CNN host, Abby Phillip, wasted no time in pointing out the hypocrisy. She reminded Davis Gates of her past comments, including a tweet where she referred to private schools as “segregation academies.” Davis Gates tried to defend herself by saying she was only criticizing school choice, not private schools. Nice try, but we see right through it.
Phillip didn’t let her off the hook that easily. She brought up a letter Davis Gates had written, where she explained that she sent her son to a private school for a sports program. Phillip questioned why Davis Gates wouldn’t afford the same choice to families in the South Side of Chicago who might want the option of a private school.
Conservatives were quick to applaud Phillip for holding Davis Gates accountable. It’s refreshing to see someone in the media not afraid to call out the blatant hypocrisy of the left. It’s one thing to make grand statements about private schools being racist, but it’s a whole different story when you’re willing to send your own child there. Maybe Davis Gates should think twice before criticizing school choice in the future.
