Gustavo Petro, Colombia’s current president, is the very definition of a left-wing menace cloaked in power. A former Marxist guerrilla and member of the M19 terrorist gang that once terrorized Bogotá, Petro still proudly wears his violent past like a badge of honor. This so-called leader, who has blood on his hands from that horrific 1985 siege where Supreme Court justices were slaughtered, is now threatening to “take up arms again” just to fight former President Donald Trump. Can you imagine? A man tied to terrorism, drug trafficking allegations, and a stunning history of violence daring to raise his voice against America’s interests—and expecting to get away with it.
This isn’t some isolated rant from a fringe figure. Petro openly supports the vile Maduro regime in Venezuela—an oppressive dictatorship knee-deep in drug running and corruption. While the U.S. military was busy bringing justice to Maduro, hauling him off to face real consequences, Petro played the patsy. He dismissed Maduro’s guilt, painted drug kingpins as victims, and even promoted the legalization of cocaine. Meanwhile, global cocaine production shot through the roof during Petro’s presidency. And what does he do? Claims to be the champion of anti-drug efforts while cozying up to narco regimes and spinning a network of deceit. It’s the clearest act of hypocrisy and anti-American treachery you’ll find outside the pages of a Marxist manifesto.

If that wasn’t enough, Petro’s official response to Trump’s no-nonsense crackdown was a rambling threat dressed up as political bravado. This isn’t a man interested in peace or diplomacy. It’s a career guerrilla openly bragging about inciting violence and rallying his followers to defend him against “illegitimate” U.S. actions. He directs his security forces to target any “invader,” effectively threatening a war with America or its allies. This venomous language isn’t just reckless; it’s outright dangerous. Yet, where is the global outcry? Where is the left-wing media condemning this tyrant? Instead, too many on the other side cheer him on or pretend it’s just “politics.”
This is the fruit of decades of liberal failure in Latin America—and globally. The open-door embrace of socialist radicals tied to terrorism and drug trafficking has turned once-stable nations into breeding grounds for crime, corruption, and anti-American hostility. Meanwhile, leaders like Trump dare to call out these enemies of freedom and security. Trump vowed to stop cocaine from flooding American streets and warned that tyrants like Petro won’t be operating for long. His firm stance is the only thing standing between the free world and chaos in Colombia and beyond.
Petro’s threats, his shameless glorification of armed insurrection, and his alliance with regimes that hate America show exactly why we need tough, unyielding leadership. No more appeasement. No more coddling dictators posing as presidents. If Petro thinks he can pick a fight with America, he better think twice. America will not back down, and neither should we. The question is: will the global community finally wake up and stop rewarding terrorists and druglords, or will they continue letting these Reds threaten the West with impunity?
