And yes, that means banning the kind of hateful rhetoric that masks itself as criticism of Israel but is really just vile Jew-hatred in disguise.
Make no mistake: Columbia’s delay and denial when it came to stamping out antisemitism was not an innocent oversight. When pro-Palestine mobs violently took over campus spaces last year, held staff hostage, and spread toxic lies about Jewish people, university leaders stood by—or worse, encouraged the chaos. These ideas aren’t just offensive—they are textbook antisemitism masquerading as political opinion.
Columbia’s final act of compliance—pledging zero tolerance for antisemitism, refusing to negotiate with anti-Israel hate groups, and promising ongoing education—is a direct rebuke of the years of liberal negligence that permitted Jew-hatred to spread like wildfire. But let’s not kid ourselves: this “reform” is forced and fragile. The very same campus radicals who held Columbia hostage still roam free, armed with a narrative that paints Jews and Israel as the ultimate villains. Without fierce, ongoing vigilance, these poisoners of truth will return full force.
