A Colorado State University freshman, 19-year-old Blake Jones, says he was harassed and even spat upon after he simply wrote Bible verses in chalk on the Lory Student Center Plaza during a Nov. 19, 2025 campus demonstration. This wasn’t a stunt or a provocation — it was a peaceful expression of faith and opinion on a public part of campus that the university permits for free speech, yet Jones says he was met with venom instead of debate.
Jones, a member of Turning Point USA who was wearing a red MAGA hat, says he was cursed at, shoved away and narrowly avoided being struck before the attacker allegedly spat on the back of his pants. He and other conservative students returned to chalk their messages after reporting the incident, because cowardice and silence are exactly what the radical left depends on to push conservative voices off campus.
Witnesses and photos show that liberal demonstrators covered and defaced pro-Christian chalk, replaced a large cross with a transgender depiction of Jesus and changed messages like “abortion is murder” to “abortion is awesome.” This grotesque inversion of tolerance — mocking one faith while preaching inclusivity for others — exposes the double standard rotting the heart of our universities.
Even more alarming, Colorado State police reportedly took about 25 minutes to respond, and students say five of six cameras in the plaza were allegedly not functioning at the time when Jones requested footage. When campus safety is slow or surveillance mysteriously fails during incidents targeting conservatives, it smells less like incompetence and more like indifference to political and religious intimidation.
This episode is not isolated; it’s part of a nationwide trend where conservative and Christian students face harassment while administrators look the other way or lecture about “inclusion” that excludes dissenting viewpoints. Parents and taxpayers who fund these institutions must demand that universities enforce equal protection for all speech, discipline violence and restore common-sense standards that do not allow a noisy political mob to silence one side.
Blake Jones did the right thing by standing his ground and finishing his chalking despite threats — that courage is what will keep America strong while do-gooder elites look the other way. If conservatives retreat from campuses, the radical left will have free rein to rewrite our culture; it’s time to push back, hold administrators accountable, and ensure our children can speak their conscience without fear of spit or scorn.
