Sen. Charles Grassley has what he calls "highly credible whistleblowers" from the past and present who say that the Hunter Biden case was sabotaged on purpose.
The FBI tried to discredit it in the wrong way by calling “verified and verifiable derogatory information about the president’s son as disinformation.”
With that label, the investigation was stopped.
“If these allegations are true and accurate, the Justice Department and FBI are — and have been — institutionally corrupted to their very core to the point in which the United States Congress and the American people will have no confidence in the equal application of the law,” wrote Mr. Grassley of Iowa, the top Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Still nothing from the DOJ or FBI.
In May, Mr. Grassley asked the inspector general of the Justice Department to look into Assistant Special Agent in Charge Timothy Thibault and other people. They were in charge of the FBI's investigation into Hunter Biden in 2020, when Hunter's father, who is now Joe Biden, was running for president.
People have criticized Mr. Thibault for what they say are partisan social media posts, like retweeting posts from the Lincoln Project and other anti-Trump groups and bashing Republicans. Since then, he has kept his social media posts from being seen by the public.
In his letter, Mr. Grassley said that whistleblowers told him that the Justice Department and FBI have to follow strict rules to start an investigation and that Mr. Thibault did not follow these rules.
The senator says that Thibault stopped an investigation into Hunter Biden in October 2020 because it was based on false information, even though some of the details were true at the time.
They messed up a real criminal case.
“All of the reporting (in the case) was either verified or verifiable via criminal search warrants,” he wrote, adding Mr. Thibault “ordered the matter closed without providing a valid reason as required.”
