Cruz Calls for Impeachment of Activist Judges Over Soft Sentences

Sen. Ted Cruz has lit a fuse in Washington by calling out what every patriotic American already knows: left-wing judges are making America less safe with soft, politically motivated sentences. After a shocking ruling that let a would-be assassin receive a fraction of the punishment prosecutors asked for, Cruz didn’t mince words — he demanded accountability and even urged impeachment proceedings for judges who abandon public safety. This isn’t about partisan theatrics; it’s about dangerous double standards that leave law enforcement and the rule of law vulnerable.

Cruz’s fury is justified. When people who threaten the lives of Supreme Court justices or police officers get treated like minor offenders, the message to criminals is unmistakable: there are two systems of justice in this country. Conservatives have watched for years as activist judges issue nationwide injunctions and blatantly substitute their policy preferences for the law, and enough is enough. Impeachment — or at least aggressive congressional oversight — must be on the table when judges’ decisions cross from law into political activism that endangers citizens.

At the same time Cruz has been clear-eyed about the Department of Justice’s failures under the previous administration, and he’s loudly backing Pam Bondi to clean house. He praised Bondi for having the backbone to restore integrity to the DOJ and urged her to use every tool available to depoliticize investigations and protect constitutional institutions. Hardworking Americans deserve a Justice Department that pursues criminals and corruption, not a partisan enforcement arm that shields allies and targets opponents.

Cruz also pressed Bondi to address the grave breach when the Dobbs draft opinion was leaked in 2022, calling for the FBI to be brought in to find and prosecute whoever betrayed the Court’s secrecy. Leaking a draft Supreme Court opinion wasn’t a newsroom scoop — it was an act that stoked threats, protests, and an attempt to intimidate justices doing their duty. If we want judges to decide cases free from terror and mob pressure, there must be consequences for those who weaponize leaks and lawfare.

Americans should be furious that our institutions have been so weakened by complacency and politicization. For too long the elites in Washington have tolerated double standards: harsh enforcement for the right, leniency for left-wing radicals, and backroom deals instead of accountability. Cruz is doing what conservatives must always do — calling out hypocrisy, demanding equal application of the law, and pushing for real remedies instead of hollow apologies.

The remedy is straightforward: restore law and order, reassert the rule of law in the judiciary, and reform the DOJ so it protects citizens rather than shielding political allies. That means vigorous investigations, prosecutions where merited, and real consequences for officials — judges or prosecutors — who abdicate their duty. The American people sent Republicans to Washington to stop the decay; it’s past time to deliver.

If Democrats and their judicial allies think the country will quietly accept this erosion of justice, they are sorely mistaken. Patriotic Americans will stand with senators like Ted Cruz who understand that defending our institutions requires courage, not compromise. We must keep the pressure on until the DOJ is restored, the leakers are held accountable, and judges who weaponize the bench are removed from positions of power.
