Once again, the Cuban regime wants the world to clap while it quietly releases 2,000 prisoners during so-called “Holy Week.” Just as talks with the United States are heating up, how convenient that Havana suddenly claims it’s liberating these prisoners as if it’s some benevolent habit. Let’s not fall for this tired act.
This is classic bait-and-switch from a ruthless communist dictatorship. Instead of true freedom or justice, Cuba is scrambling to look good right as Washington reopens its friendly chats with the island tyrants. It reeks of the same weakness we see from globalists who think cozying up to dictators will somehow make the world a better place. Should Americans really trust any “gesture” from a regime that oppresses its people, jails dissidents, and blames the United States for its own failures?

You know who gets forgotten in all these photo-ops and headlines? Ordinary Cubans, crushed under decades of Marxist mismanagement and lies. The ones left living in poverty while their rulers cut deals with American politicians eager to look “diplomatic.” When President Biden’s State Department runs straight to the table, it props up an anti-American dictatorship with more time, more money, and more credibility.
Here’s the blunt truth: Real change in Cuba won’t come from PR stunts or naive talks. It starts the day the free world demands actual freedom for the Cuban people—not backroom deals or prisoner swaps dressed up as holidays. Why do liberal leaders keep rewarding the world’s worst regimes? Maybe because the truth about tyranny doesn’t fit their “open borders, open hearts” fantasy.
